Science Behind Tot By Me

Tot By Me is more than an entertainment company: our products are designed by psychology Ph.D.'s and caring parents; our kids videos are based on decades of developmental psychological research:

Faces are special

Fear of the unfamiliar

Many families have suffered through having their children being uncomfortable around their grandparents.

At about 18mo, children start to develop a fear of those people that they don't see often.

That's one of the reasons we invented Tot By Me, so children can get their daily dose of grandma and grandpa so they aren't strangers when they meet in person.

The ability to recognize faces is very important to humans. People even have special parts of their brains that evolved just for recognizing faces.

Babies love familiar faces

Even within minutes of birth, babies can already recognize the faces of the people they've seen. And not only do infants like familiar faces, but they prefer to watch familiar faces more than anything else. It keeps them engaged and stimulated and happy.

Repetition increases fondness

Children learn by repetition. The more your children get to see family members, the more they are going to like them. Reduce your children's natural stranger anxiety by making grandparents and distant family more familiar.

Familiarity improves mood

Children, like the rest of us, like what we know. Faces and babies' feelings are no different. When children see the faces of their parents, they smile, and it improves their mood.

Tot By Me also integrates other science-motivated design features into its content, delivering age-specific content that will grow as your child develops.
